The chiropractic profession has evolved since 1895, just as all branches of medicine have. Chiropractic medicine developed as a form of manual medicine from the days of the old bone setters of early America, going through decades of controversy, persecution and misunderstanding. Today there are 70,000 plus doctors of chiropractic practicing manual therapy in all 50 states, the US territories, Europe and Asia. Chiropractic physicians today represent the second largest group of health care providers in the United States, and we serve patients nearly every country in the world.
The emphasis in chiropractic medicine today is based upon an evidenced based and scientific approach to the diagnosis and the non-surgical management of disorders of the spine, musculoskeletal and nervous system. We treat people by integrating physiotherapy, exercise and a hands-on approach. The theories and methods of manual therapy and spinal manipulation have stood the test of time since the days of Hippocrates. In more recent years, these natural methods have been well documented to be a safe and cost effective alternative clinical pathway for spine and musculoskeletal problems providing pain management alternatives that are devoid of addictive opioid medications, as well as heart healthy alternative to taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS).
Today’s doctors of chiropractic stand in the forefront as the specialists to see for the conservative, non-surgical management of disorders of the spine and musculoskeletal system.
My personal interests also include wellness and preventive medicine, as well as the reversal of chronic illness using the exciting new science of epigenetics and nutrigenomics.
